Maar Grateful dead hour no. 705 biedt meer, aldus de website www.dead.net: Bob Dylan's co-manager, Jeff Rosen, was kind enough to allow me to play some rough mixes of unheard rehearsal tapes on the radio to help promote this CD. Wonderful music!
Naast All along the watchtower van Postcards of the hanging, worden er een aantal nummers van de Dylan & the Dead-rehearsals gedraaid, te weten:
Stealin'
Oh boy
John Brown
Folsom prison blues
Gotta serve somebody
Hideway / CC rider
In The Wicked Messenger 1757 (opgenomen in Isis issue 103) schrijft Ian Woodward over Grateful dead hour no. 705: The radio programme concludes with a selection of six songs from the Dylan/Dead rehearsals, four of which seem to be previously unavailable.
De vier niet eerder beschikbare opnames zijn John Brown, Folsom prison blues, Gotta serve somebody en Hideway / CC rider.
Ian Woodward schrijft verder: Stealin' ends with a bit of studio banter and apparently has Dylan on mandolin. On Oh boy, Dylan is on harmonica. John Brown, with the vocal right upfront, has Dylan repeating the "uniform an' all", unlike the circulating version. The final song has Dylan and the Dead doing Chuck Willis C C Rider, into which Garcia manages to insert the main theme from the instrumental Hideway, originally by Freddie King.
